AI Policy
AI Policy for JTISI (Jurnal Testing dan Implementasi Sistem Informasi)
1. Introduction
JTISI (Jurnal Testing dan Implementasi Sistem Informasi) recognizes the growing role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies in supporting scholarly research and scientific writing. AI-powered tools can assist authors throughout the research and publication process by facilitating idea generation, improving language quality, organizing references, summarizing literature, analyzing data, and enhancing manuscript readability.
Recent advances in Large Language Models (LLMs) and Generative AI provide valuable opportunities to improve research productivity and dissemination. However, AI systems cannot replace human creativity, critical thinking, scientific judgment, ethical responsibility, or accountability for scholarly work. Therefore, JTISI has established this policy to provide guidance for authors, reviewers, and editors regarding the responsible, transparent, and ethical use of AI technologies in scientific publishing.
2. Permitted Use of Artificial Intelligence
JTISI permits the responsible use of AI technologies to support manuscript preparation, including but not limited to the following activities:
-
Language editing and proofreading
AI tools may be used to improve grammar, spelling, punctuation, sentence structure, readability, and overall language quality. -
Reference management
AI-assisted reference management software may be used to organize citations, generate bibliographies, and format references according to the journal's style. -
Literature discovery and summarization
AI tools may assist authors in identifying relevant literature, summarizing published research, and supporting literature reviews. Authors remain responsible for verifying the accuracy of all cited information. -
Data analysis and visualization
AI algorithms may be used for statistical analysis, machine learning applications, data mining, visualization, and interpretation of research data, provided that the methods are fully described and scientifically justified. -
Plagiarism screening
Authors are encouraged to use AI-supported plagiarism detection software to ensure originality before submission.
3. Prohibited Use of Artificial Intelligence
The following uses of AI are not permitted:
-
Generation of original scientific content
AI must not be used as the primary creator of the manuscript, including the research hypothesis, literature review, methodology, interpretation of results, discussion, conclusions, or scientific claims. These remain the sole responsibility of the authors. -
Fabrication or falsification of research
AI must never be used to fabricate data, manipulate images, create fictitious experiments, generate false citations, alter research findings, or engage in any form of scientific misconduct. -
Authorship
AI tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors because they cannot assume responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, originality, or ethical standards of the published work. -
Peer review confidentiality
Reviewers and editors must not upload confidential manuscripts or unpublished data into public AI systems unless explicitly authorized by JTISI and the manuscript owners.
4. Recommendations for Responsible AI Use
Authors who utilize AI during manuscript preparation should adhere to the following principles:
-
Human oversight
All AI-generated outputs must be carefully reviewed, verified, edited, and approved by the authors. -
Accuracy verification
Authors must independently verify all facts, references, citations, numerical values, and scientific statements generated by AI systems. -
Transparency
The use of AI must be disclosed transparently during manuscript submission. -
Appropriate acknowledgment
AI-assisted tools used for language editing, writing assistance, coding, image generation, statistical analysis, or literature review should be acknowledged in the manuscript when appropriate.
An example of disclosure is:
"The authors used ChatGPT (OpenAI) to assist with language editing and manuscript refinement. All scientific content, analysis, interpretation, and conclusions were independently developed, verified, and approved by the authors."
5. Ethical Considerations
Authors remain fully responsible for the originality, integrity, and scientific validity of their manuscripts, regardless of any AI assistance used during preparation.
The use of AI must comply with international standards of publication ethics. Any misuse of AI resulting in plagiarism, copyright infringement, fabricated data, falsified images, misleading citations, or other unethical practices will constitute a violation of JTISI publication ethics and may result in manuscript rejection, retraction, or further editorial action.
6. Editorial and Peer Review Process
All manuscripts submitted to JTISI (Jurnal Testing dan Implementasi Sistem Informasi), whether prepared with or without AI assistance, will undergo the same rigorous editorial screening and double-blind peer-review process.
The editorial board reserves the right to request clarification regarding the use of AI tools during manuscript preparation and may require revisions if AI-generated content compromises scientific quality, originality, or ethical standards.
7. Policy Review
JTISI may periodically review and revise this AI policy to accommodate technological developments, international publishing standards, and evolving best practices in scholarly communication.
Authors, reviewers, and editors are encouraged to consult the latest version of this policy before submitting or reviewing manuscripts.
