AI Policy
AI Policy for International Journal of Information System and Innovation Management (IJISIM)
1. Introduction
International Journal of Information System and Innovation Management (IJISIM) is a peer-reviewed academic journal published by the Lembaga Riset dan Inovasi Al-Matani. The journal provides an international platform for researchers, academics, practitioners, and industry professionals to publish high-quality research in Information Systems, Information Technology, Innovation Management, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Digital Business, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Decision Support Systems, Business Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Internet of Things (IoT), Digital Transformation, Smart Systems, and related interdisciplinary fields.
IJISIM recognizes the growing role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies in supporting scholarly research and scientific writing. AI-powered tools can assist authors throughout the research and publication process by facilitating idea generation, improving language quality, organizing references, summarizing literature, analyzing data, generating program code, enhancing visualizations, and improving manuscript readability.
Recent advances in Large Language Models (LLMs) and Generative AI provide valuable opportunities to improve research productivity and scientific dissemination. However, AI technologies cannot replace human creativity, critical thinking, scientific judgment, ethical responsibility, or accountability for scholarly work. Therefore, IJISIM has established this policy to guide authors, reviewers, and editors in the responsible, transparent, and ethical use of Artificial Intelligence in scholarly publishing.
2. Permitted Use of Artificial Intelligence
IJISIM permits the responsible use of AI technologies to support manuscript preparation, including but not limited to the following activities:
Language Editing and Proofreading
AI tools may be used to improve grammar, spelling, punctuation, readability, academic writing style, and overall language quality.
Reference Management
AI-assisted reference management software may be used to organize citations, generate bibliographies, verify references, and format citations according to the journal style.
Literature Discovery and Summarization
AI tools may assist authors in identifying relevant literature, discovering related publications, summarizing previous studies, and supporting systematic literature reviews. Authors remain responsible for verifying the accuracy and completeness of all cited sources.
Data Analysis, Programming, and Visualization
AI algorithms may be used for statistical analysis, machine learning, deep learning, qualitative coding assistance, software development, source code generation, simulation, business analytics, visualization, and interpretation of research data, provided that all methods are scientifically justified and adequately documented.
Plagiarism Screening
Authors are encouraged to use AI-assisted plagiarism detection software to ensure originality before manuscript submission.
3. Prohibited Use of Artificial Intelligence
The following uses of AI are not permitted:
Generation of Original Scientific Content
AI must not be used as the primary creator of the manuscript, including research ideas, hypotheses, theoretical frameworks, literature reviews, methodologies, interpretations, discussions, conclusions, or scientific claims. These remain entirely the responsibility of the authors.
Fabrication or Falsification of Research
AI must never be used to fabricate datasets, manipulate research findings, alter experimental results, generate fictitious references, falsify images, or engage in any form of scientific misconduct.
Authorship
AI systems cannot be listed as authors or co-authors because they cannot assume responsibility for the originality, integrity, ethical standards, or accountability of scholarly publications.
Peer Review Confidentiality
Editors and reviewers must not upload confidential manuscripts, reviewer reports, editorial communications, or unpublished research data into public AI platforms unless explicitly authorized by IJISIM and the manuscript owners.
4. Recommendations for Responsible AI Use
Authors utilizing AI during manuscript preparation should adhere to the following principles:
Human Oversight
All AI-generated outputs must be critically reviewed, edited, validated, and approved by the authors.
Accuracy Verification
Authors must independently verify all references, facts, numerical values, software code, statistical outputs, algorithms, figures, tables, and scientific interpretations generated or suggested by AI systems.
Transparency
The use of AI technologies must be transparently disclosed during manuscript submission.
Appropriate Acknowledgment
AI-assisted tools used for language editing, coding assistance, statistical analysis, visualization, literature review, or reference management should be appropriately acknowledged within the manuscript.
An example of disclosure is:
"The authors used ChatGPT (OpenAI) to assist with language editing and manuscript refinement. All scientific content, software implementation, analysis, interpretation, and conclusions were independently developed, verified, and approved by the authors."
5. Ethical Considerations
Authors remain fully responsible for the originality, integrity, scientific validity, and ethical compliance of their manuscripts, regardless of any AI assistance used during manuscript preparation.
The use of AI must comply with internationally accepted publication ethics and academic integrity standards. Any misuse of AI resulting in plagiarism, copyright infringement, fabricated or falsified data, manipulated images, citation manipulation, fraudulent software code, misleading analyses, or other unethical practices will constitute a violation of IJISIM publication ethics and may result in manuscript rejection, publication withdrawal, retraction, or additional editorial actions.
6. Editorial and Peer Review Process
All manuscripts submitted to the International Journal of Information System and Innovation Management (IJISIM), whether prepared with or without AI assistance, undergo the same rigorous editorial screening and double-blind peer-review process.
The Editorial Board reserves the right to request clarification regarding the use of AI technologies during manuscript preparation. Editors may require revisions or reject manuscripts if AI-generated content compromises scientific quality, originality, research integrity, ethical compliance, reproducibility, or publication standards.
7. Policy Review
IJISIM may periodically review and update this AI policy to accommodate technological developments, international publishing standards, recommendations from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), and evolving best practices in scholarly communication.
Authors, reviewers, and editors are encouraged to consult the latest version of this policy before submitting, reviewing, or editing manuscripts.
8. Contact
For questions regarding this policy or the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence in manuscript preparation, please contact the Editorial Office of the International Journal of Information System and Innovation Management (IJISIM).
